Understanding Light Levels for Houseplants
Bright indirect light means a spot near a window where the plant can see plenty of sky but is not hit by direct sun rays. Direct light is sun landing on the leaves, ideal for succulents and cacti.
Low light does not mean no light — it means a few feet from a window or a north-facing room. Very few plants survive in truly dark corners.
If a plant gets leggy and stretches toward the window, it needs more light. Scorched or bleached leaves mean too much direct sun.
